Jean Pierre Bandeira has more than 22 years of experience in marketing and business development. He has headed up business development for telecommunication, hospitality and real estate firms worldwide and has led expansions in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America. This world view and his intimate understanding of the needs and expectations of differing business cultures have resulted in a true competitive advantage in Brazil. His interpersonal skills, vision and strategic planning has been the foundation for creating strategic alliances with the largest and most successful land owners and real estate developers in Brazil. Among other achievements, he has capitalised on this unique understanding of business practices in South America to successfully launch Practicis, a brand and services company for top tier residential developments, for Gafisa, Brazil’s largest homebuilder. He has successfully executed multiple land assembleges in the high density Sao Paulo environment.
With over 18 years’ experience and a passion for design, Josh has put together a network of supply, design and production in the UK and Europe which now contributes to YOO’s already impressive network of artisans.
With a consultative approach, he will find the right design solution for your hotel, restaurant, home or office. Josh also plays piano, drinks martini, and skis, but not at the same time.
Poppy oversees YOO’s front of house ensuring a friendly welcome for all of YOO’s clients and guests.
An Art and Design graduate, Poppy also comes from an artistic family, her grandmother is an artist and her grandfather is a sculptor. In her spare time, Poppy indulges in her love of sewing and textiles creating bespoke cushions.
Born in London, Poppy has also lived in New Zealand. Prior to joining YOO, Poppy worked as a receptionist and administrator for a salon in Mayfair.
Sophie graduated from KLC in Chelsea in 2011, with a diploma in Interior Design and interned at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in Mayfair. She then moved to Holland to spend a year as head intern at Marcel Wanders. Sophie says she always had a passion for interior design because both her parents were architects, so she spent a lot of time on building sites as a youngster. These early experiences gave her a fantastic grounding in her chosen specialty. A talented addition to the YOO team, Sophie is always a bright presence around the office - not least because of her fantastic and much admired shoe collection!
Angela brings to YOO Studio, a unique vision and depth of experience developed across an international portfolio of hospitality, large-scale luxury residential and mixed-use projects.
Adept at brand story creation, Angela is also a specialist in design thinking and brand synthesis to position projects. Her expertise has also developed an innate ability to design memorable experiences, always with a sense of place and occasion, while maximising the commercial potential of a property.
A strategic designer, Angela has delivered programming and planning of technical services for complex developments throughout the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Eurasia. Prior to joining YOO Studio, Angela conceptualised and delivered projects for Shangri-La, Rotana Hotels, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott International, Nakheel and Emaar.
Rachel studied at the Glasgow School of art and graduated 2010 with a First Class BA Hons Interior Design.
This young designer has already been recognised for her talents, winning Bar of the future design award and has had her work featured in idFX magazine.
Growing up she was always surrounded by design – her dad has his own interior design company.
Upon graduating, Rachel worked at United designers for 1 year and a half on projects in the UK and overseas (London and Vienna) specialising in luxury hotel and multi-million pound high end residential design. She then continued specialising in hotel design at RPW before joining YOO.
Ignacio joined YOO in 2012 as designer for YOO Design Studio. An accomplished Interior Architect, Ignacio was immersed in design from a young age by his father, the artist and interior designer Ramon Corredoira. After studying in A Coruña in Spain, Ignacio finished his GCSEs in Boston in 1996, before moving back to Spain to complete a degree in Interior Architecture at the Superior Architectural School of Madrid. In 2007 Ignacio joined architecture firm HKS, where he developed interior design strategies for education, commercial and healthcare sectors. More recently Ignacio was based in Denmark where he took part in the development of the Better Place Visitor Centre project based on a ‘green design’ for sustainable architecture.
Passionate about free hand drawing and minimal and pure architecture and Design, Ignacio’s other passion is the ocean and he enjoys surfing at every opportunity.
Yvette is a multi-disciplinary individual with over 9 years’ experience in marketing, communications and press relations within the design, architecture, luxury and property industries. Having studied a Bachelor of Media and Communications at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Yvette worked in branding and graphic design before continuing her education by completing a degree in Interior Architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney. Work brought Yvette to the UK, where she has worked in interior design at architectural practice Woods Bagot, and in marketing and communications at luxury furniture manufacturer Walter Knoll.
Most recently Yvette worked at Caro Communications as an Account Director, heading up the luxury design team - managing global press campaigns, marketing strategies and events for a portfolio of high-end clients including Dornbracht, Molteni&C, Artemide, Bethan Gray, The Bodleian Library, ISSEY MIYAKE, The Royal College of Art, Vivienne Westwood, Frieze Art Fair and the V&A.
As Head of Marketing, Yvette drives YOO’s global marketing activities, overseeing all project marketing, branding and PR, delivering key corporate marketing initiatives and ensuring that the brands in the YOO portfolio - YOO inspired by Starck, Jade Jagger for YOO, Kelly Hoppen for YOO, Wanders & YOO and Steve Leung & YOO – are consistently represented across all YOO projects and in the public sphere.
Nadia is responsible for the financial and management accounts of YOO's interior design division. Her expertise covers the preparation of budget, monthly management accounts and month/year end journals, liaising with the external specialists and business partnering.
She graduated with a Masters Degree in Accounting from INSEEC in Paris in 2009 and moved to the UK in 2012 to became a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA). Nadia speaks French, English and Spanish and has many years' experience in management and financial accounting in various sectors including Retail, Bakeries and Professional Services within large and small organisations.
Ruta joins the YOO Studio design team as a Junior Designer. She says she takes inspiration in her design work from her Baltic roots but also from her travels, from great artwork, exhibitions and events, and even everyday objects. Ruta's family was involved in the design industry for years, so it was a natural part of her life from very early days. She studied arts and has always been surrounded by architects, artists and actors. In her spare time she loves being active and even does a bit of ballet.
Mark completed both parts of his studies (parts 1 and 2) at the highly respected architecture school at the University of Canterbury. He started working with John Hitchcox as soon as he had graduated, helping to set up the Manhattan Loft Corporation. Within five years, he was Creative Director, responsible for every design issue from building development to corporate design.
After a few independent years running his own highly successful and profitable practice, Mark once again joined John Hitchcox to assist him in setting up YOO with Philippe Starck. Mark’s architectural background and hands-on experience in the area of cutting-edge development has given him an unusual and valuable insight into the commercial machinery of the property industry, as well as the expectations of the clients. Mark, who lives between London and Sussex, oversees the quality of the output from the YOO Design Studio all over the world.
Janice is an expert furnishings consultant with over eight years’ experience across the furnishings and design industries. As Project Manager for YOO Furnishings, Janice manages the smooth sourcing, delivery and installation of all YOO Furnishings contracts across six continents.
Prior to joining YOO Janice worked in the buying team for The Conran Shop, before taking Project Management roles with two international furnishings consultancies where she was responsible for teams of up to five people ensuring successful procurement and delivery for clients including Deloitte and UBS.
Truly a people person, it’s the international focus of YOO and the interaction with diverse clients and suppliers from all over the world that Janice thrives on.
As Design Director at YOO Michael Delaney oversees and mentors the YOO Studio team, guiding and steering on all conceptual and creative fronts. Michael grew up in London and studied architecture at the universities of Portsmouth and Glasgow. He has worked for some of the profession’s most inspiring names, including Rick Mather, Nigel Coates and David Connor, and the leading London design agency Imagination. Guinness, Ford, Vivienne Westwood and the University of East Anglia have numbered among his clients. Projects have ranged from complex housing proposals to bespoke furniture, and he has proved his skills time and again in both domestic interiors and commercial (retail and restaurant) projects. Michael joined YOO in 2006 and has worked on some of the company’s most prestigious projects. He is currently leading concept proposals on projects in St Petersburg, Miami and Lima.
As Project Design Assistant for YOO Furnishings and YOO Home, Sandra supports on a variety of tasks from FF&E scheduling and drawing to utilising her expertise in YOO’s revolutionary Floor Planner technology, YOO Styler, to create renderings.
Originally from Lithuania, Sandra gained her BA Hons Part 1 in Architecture and is currently studying Interior Design at KLC in London. From a young age Sandra was interested in the arts and its various mediums, from graphic design to sculpture to fashion, and indulging in her passion for music as a professional pianist before taking a keen interest in architecture.
Prior to joining YOO, Sandra worked as a retail consultant for a number of home décor brands before undertaking internships as a design assistant working on luxury hotel and residential projects.
Wassim came to YOO in 2008, after working as an assistant to IT Director in a small business. He is responsible for all YOO group Network & System Infrastructure, IT Budget, IT Projects Strategies, Planning and Implementation. Waz has an interesting string of countries to his name. He grew up in Beirut. He got his first degree in computer science from the Technical University of Riga, and attended the University of East London for his MSc in computer systems engineering.
Laura oversees marketing activities for both YOO Home and many of YOO's international design projects, drawing on her extensive experience as a marketing manager in the tourism and interiors sectors.
Growing up in Ireland, Laura studied marketing and international business development. Since then she has worked for Aer Lingus and the Financial Times and previously lived in New York and Amsterdam working for Tourism Ireland.
More recently Laura moved back to London to pursue a career in interiors e-commerce. She brings to YOO her extensive knowledge and experience of launching and marketing homeware online.
Kate contributes to a variety of international projects within the YOO Design Studio, as a specialist in furniture specification, procurement & project management. Her first job with YOO was in 2005, working on The Lakes by YOO project in Gloucestershire. Kate trained in three dimensional design and Theatre Set Design in London, but immediately went onto working in interiors upon graduating. She has worked for Virgin Atlantic on all its Upper Class lounges, for BP on its head office in Surrey, for Sony, Pret A Manger, the Raven Group and many more, but always in the specifier's role. She is, she says, passionate about offering solid interior solutions, from specification and budget to interior styling and completion.
When not working with YOO, Kate runs her own company, offering high-end domestic interior solutions for private residences and commercial clients. Kate is also the FF&E lecturer at London's The Interior Design School.
Phillip has over 22 years of international experience in branding, launching, sales, marketing and distribution and is a well respected industry representative, having sat on various boards such Preferred Hotels and Global Hotel Alliance.
During his career he has re-positioned and launched over 12 hotels and brands throughout the world and created a number of affinity marketing programs with brands such as Aspreys, Maserati, Wilson Tennis, Sony Music as well as names such as Seve Ballasteros, Gary Player and Gordon Ramsay. He has previously relaunched Salvatore Ferragamo’s Lungarno Collection brand and worked for other prestigious brands such as Orient Express, Mandarin Oriental, Forte Hotels, Meridien Hotels, Group Alain Ducasse and many others.
Phillip recently moved his family to the UK to start work with YOO, but is originally from Canada. A fluent speaker of Italian, Phillip spent many years living in Italy, and is a self-confessed Italophile with a particular admiration for proper Italian coffee!
Alex brings his experience of furniture, lighting and product design to the team for both bespoke and retailed pieces. His passion is for well crafted, sustainable sourced, and British made products that will last a lifetime.
Having worked in Melbourne, Australia for two years, missing the cold and rain, he returned to England to work for Sir Terence Conran’s company Benchmark. He was involved in projects such as The Groucho Club and The London Library, before moving on to David Collins Studio as Lead Bespoke Designer where projects included as The Mandarin Oriental, The Delaunay, Aqua Hong Kong and Fortnum & Mason. Alex has also worked in a senior role for Kelly Hoppen on diverse product collections. In his spare time, Alex develops, produces and exhibits his own designs.
John Hitchcox’s rare combination of entrepreneurship and design savvy has had an unparalleled effect on property development worldwide. In 1991 he co-founded the Manhattan Loft Company, bringing to market incredible domestic living spaces, carved out of generous post-industrial buildings, the like of which had not been offered in London before.
In 1998, with his great friend, design giant Philippe Starck, Hitchcox set up YOO, a ground breaking property design and development company. YOO is now the largest residential design and development brand in the world. YOO homes have been designed and developed in large scale projects with partners across 27 countries. Designers Jade Jagger, Marcel Wanders, Kelly Hoppen, Anouska Hempel and Steve Leung have all joined the YOO family, creating a portfolio that offers luxury design in many different forms, from the cutting-edge to the most enduringly classic. YOO has won many industry awards for design, development, community building, hotels and residences.
John was born into a family of creatives; his father was the highly respected architect, Brian Hitchcox OBE. John entered the world of property development aged only 19, starting on his own with a house in South London. John lives in London with his family.
Rebecca is an accomplished property professional with over 20 years’ experience in Real Estate Sales and Finance. At YOO Rebecca is responsible for Business Development in the Indian and European regions, while working to grow and manage YOO’s existing client base with some of India’s and Europe’s leading developers. Prior to joining YOO Rebecca worked at Pure International Property Limited, a real estate and marketing firm where she spent six years in developing their client base. Before this, Rebecca developed her strong understanding of development finance through a sales role in the portfolio and Investment Management Services division of a Hong Kong based property finance firm. A fluent German speaker, Rebecca also has a strong affinity with Indian culture, and she has enjoyed immensely seeing the growth of YOO living in the country.
For Rebecca, YOO is a perfect fit, combining her love of property and her love of design. Truly a people person, it’s meeting interesting clients all over the world which Rebecca finds most appealing about her role. “I love talking,” she admits. “So the more people the better.”
Jag has extensive experience of working with individuals at all different levels of the real estate sector, from property consultants and investment managers to developers and financiers. Prior to working with YOO he was UK controller of the Dutch financial institution ING Real Estate.
With an auditing and commercial background Jag has excelled in combining finance, legal, management and commercial expertise in various industries, from small start-ups to large multi-nationals.
Jag has comprehensive experience in dealing with international tax, legal, cultural and management issues and plays a key role in negotiating, advising and managing YOO's
After growing up in the Caribbean from a young age, Ross achieved a 1st class honours in furniture and interior design from the university of Plymouth.
Following graduation he worked for a number of celebrated architects and interior designers leading high specification residential projects from inception to completion at some of the most desirable addresses in London and internationally. Ross has also spent a number of years working independently, successfully completing a Central London head office for an international company as well as high specification residential projects.
In his spare time Ross is a keen photographer, writes a blog championing design and architecture and has also been invited as a guest critique for a number of universities.
As Facilities Manager & PA to the CFO, Suzanne is responsible for the management of services and processes that support YOO’s core business, including building & office management, utilities infrastructure, space management and ensuring health & safety standards are maintained. Previously Suzanne was EA to the team of YOO’s development and investment arm, YOO Capital, where she also supported the PR and marketing function, working closely with the directors on projects.
Suzanne brings to YOO over 10 years’ experience in the property sector. Prior to joining YOO, Suzanne worked at the Manhattan Loft Corporation as assistant to the directors where she had the fortune to work on iconic projects including Ealing Studios and St Pancras Apartments.
Eric graduated in 1983 with an Honours degree in Design from De Montfort University (Leicester).
In his early career, he participated in a range of noteworthy projects including five star hotels, casinos and retail developments, palaces and numerous private residences for the Omani and Saudi royal families, both in England and in the Middle East.
Eric’s involvement in cruise ship design has seen him become a leading contributor to the shaping of interior architecture for many of the most advanced and evolutionary cruise ships built in the last two decades.
For his services to cruise industry he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects in 2003.
Over the years, Eric’s reputation for inspirational designs delivered with consummate professionalism has been instrumental in the successful outcome of projects both on land and at sea throughout Britain and Europe, the Middle East, America and China.
As a founding member of YOO Hotels, Marco Nijhof brings to the company some of the most extensive and diverse hotel management experience in the world.
With more than 30 years' experience in the development, management and ownership of hotels, Marco began his career as a bellboy at the age of 16. Marco's acumen, savvy and talents for hotels were soon realised, and it wasn't long before he climbed the ranks to become one of the world's youngest General Managers of a Grand Hyatt hotel at the age of 30.
Marco has since grown his career to become one of the world's leading authorities on hotel development, management and ownership, with an outstanding track record in high volume, multi-site operations across five continents.
Andrew, who is based in Hong Kong, is responsible for creating business opportunities within the Asia Pacific region as well as the day-to-day running of the office. He has over 17 years of property experience in the Asia markets: he was a founding Director for Cushman & Wakefield in Hong Kong and, prior to joining YOO, the Executive Director for International Investments at Knight Frank Hong Kong overlooking all the cross-border transactions between their international offices, including residential developments and marketing, hotel investments and resorts developments.
Out of the office, Andrew is a “green” origami artist using environmental friendly or recycled papers. He has created a series of large sized origami lanterns for a well known Spanish restaurant in Hong Kong and published a book in 2000 for Paramount Movies – Star Trek Paper Universe (Simon & Schuster).
Gabriella joined YOO in 2010 after studying Interior and Spatial Design at the University of the Arts, Chelsea College. Gabriella grew up in Athens and moved to London in 2005. Gabriella initially chose the path of fine arts but was quickly drawn to spatial design where she likes to apply her artistic flare to the more disciplined aspects of interior design. Being particularly interested in set design, she studied performance design in her final year of her BA degree. She then participated in a charity project where she assisted in the design of costumes for the actors of ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’ play.
As Designer at YOO, Gabby has worked on YOO inspired by Starck and Kelly Hoppen for YOO projects.
In her role as Studio Manager Monika works across many varying projects simultaneously, co-coordinating the design team and ensuring the highest quality output at all times.
Throughout her 20-year career in the design industry Monika has worked in various creative fields as a multidisciplinary designer including graphics for print, TV and web design, product, furniture and lighting design. She has delivered innovative design work, collaborated on projects involving design retailers and manufacturers, interior designers and architects in the UK and internationally.
As a prolific designer in her own right Monika's own work has been recognised through several national and international awards. Hailing from Norway, with a rich and varied cultural background, she is also fluent in English, Norwegian and Polish.
Having previously worked for 15 years with Crest Contract Interiors as a furniture agent and dealer for iconic companies such as Thonet and Artifort, Angela joined YOO in 2013 and is proving to be a great asset to the team. She has a wealth of experience within the furniture industry and a passion for great design.
Angela brings her exceptional ability to manage multiple projects from inception through to delivery, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently at all times.
As Executive Assistant to John Hitchcox Heather fulfills a high pressure and varied role whether co-coordinating meetings, events or fast-moving travel arrangements. Totally reliable, and efficient, Heather has had over 7 years' experience in a multitude of high pressure roles within top tier organisations, working with the most senior level individuals through a range of international brands and companies.
As well as knowing her way around an international flight booking, Heather is somewhat of a global nomad herself, having spent extended periods in Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, United States, South Africa and Australia.
Anja joined the YOO design team in November 2012 to work on concept design, FF&E selection and styling. So far she has worked on YOO Inspired by Starck, Kelly Hoppen for YOO and Jade Jagger for YOO projects.
Prior to joining us, Anja worked at United Designers and Lee Broom as well as freelancing for a number of years. This allowed her to carry out projects from concept through to installation, whilst honing her specialist FF&E skills along the way. Past projects include The Heron, ME Hotel Vienna & St. George’s Tower Penthouses.
Of German origin, Anja moved to London to follow a creative career after an international upbringing in South East Asia and Turkey. Working for YOO allows her to combine her passion for exciting, cutting edge-design and travel.
Liz has worked for several art organisations on press and marketing events and organised an exhibition at the Design Museum.
From this experience Liz realised her interest in furniture and design and her passion for organisation. She has gained over 7 years’ experience working for commercial furniture companies working on projects in Education, Media and Communications, Banking and Leisure, Liaising directly with the client and architect on the specification and managing the delivery and installation of the projects. Ensuring projects were delivered on time and on budget.
Liz has come to YOO to concentrate on managing projects from the process of specification through to installation of furniture, to ensure this runs smoothly at all times. Liz brings with her passion for organisation and thrives on working in a fast creative environment.
James has worked with YOO Chairman John Hitchcox since 1994 when he joined the Manhattan Loft Corporation as Sales and Marketing Manager. He was involved in the marketing of every Manhattan Loft project, and has long and extensive experience of working closely with design and construction teams. Earlier real estate experience included ten years in the residential sales sector, where he was director at a west London based real estate agency.
With YOO from conception, James played a key role in developing the brand and its presence as an international development partner. He now heads the company’s international roll-out programme and is responsible for all aspects of business development at YOO.
Zoe is a talented interior designer and FF&E stylist with expertise on landmark projects throughout Europe and Asia.
A graduate of the University of the Arts and Chelsea College of Art, prior to joining YOO Zoe brought her stylistic vision to FFE Styling and Designing roles at Blacksheep and David Collins Studio where she worked on projects including The Wolseley Private Dining Room, The V&A Reading Rooms, Aqua Restaurant in Hong Kong, The Puro Hotel in Krakow and and an exclusive new lifestyle hotel in the Middle East soon to be unveiled.
As interior designer at YOO, Zoe is inspired by the diverse cultures of YOO’s client base and particularly enjoys designing in some of the more exotic and sun-filled locations such as Boracay.
Hannah joined the YOO Design Studio in July 2011, with over six years’ experience as a freelance interior stylist for a range of respected commercial and editorial clients including ‘Elle Decoration’ and ‘Grand Designs’. Trained in furniture design, with a first class honours from the Kent Institute of Art and Design, Hannah has managed a team of 10 stylists as Creative Lead and Stylist for Homebase, and was also Shopping Director for ‘Real Homes’ magazine where she ran the Shopping and Decorating sections.
Since joining YOO, Hannah has enjoyed working internationally on Jade Jagger and YOO Design projects as well as Kelly Hoppen for YOO and YOO inspired by Starck. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys painting portraits and still life compositions and often art directs voluntary style projects with her brother who is a photographer.
Chris brings to the YOO Studio over six years’ experience in residential and architecture design across renowned UK and international projects.
Prior to joining YOO Chris was an Architectural Designer for Helen Green Design and Candy & Candy where he worked on a number of London based projects in Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Kensington and Chelsea.
After receiving a BA Hons in Interior Architecture, Chris took up a junior designer role at Cooks and Malam before moving to Paris where he worked as lead designer at Laplace & Co, working on projects throughout the UK, France, Switzerland and Spain.
