“It’s to do with making a person feel fantastic in themselves”
No one’s CV reads quite like that of Anouska Hempel who, after a career as a couturier, has become one of the world’s most celebrated interior designers. Clients have included Moncler, Louis Vuitton and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Anouska Hempel Design (AHD) emerged from Hempel’s now legendary design for Blakes Hotel in Kensington, London in 1978 – a luxurious feast of antique and contemporary pieces, rich colours and sensuous textiles. This was followed by the Hempel Hotel in Bayswater, which was an exercise in uncompromising minimalism, bearing out Hempel’s own mantra: “Design, refine and repeat”. Now working across the world on projects ranging from hotels to offices and private residences to yachts, Hempel employs a wide-ranging team of architects and craftspeople, including trompe l’oeil specialists, master joiners and textile restorers, in order to achieve the studio’s high specification designs.
yoo inspired by Anouska Hempel was launched in September 2010.
