In 2008, yoo announced a global creative partnership with the innovative Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders, a leading light of the contemporary design scene, who is based in Amsterdam. Wanders found recognition in the mid-1990s, for the wit and beauty of his work – particularly his iconic Knotted Chair produced for Droog Design in 1996.
Marcel now works for the world’s top furniture companies, including B+B Italia, Flos, Poliform and Bisazza. In 2000, he co-founded Moooi, a furniture brand aimed at an extremely design-aware clientele. He has created interiors ranging from the Thor restaurant at the New York Rivington Hotel, to his largest interiors project to date, the Mondrian in Miami.
Wanders & yoo will be an ongoing collaboration, which dramatically increase the diversity of what yoo offers. Marcel’s style is decorative modern, recalling the materials, techniques and values of traditional Dutch design and making them relevant in the twenty-first century.
